Lafayette is a very special place. It has been an honor to serve as a Councilmember and, in 2005, 2011 and 2023, as your Mayor. I’m running for re-election to the Lafayette City Council because I want to continue working to make our sense of community stronger, our residents safer, our downtown more vibrant – in sum, to make Lafayette an even better place to live.

The desire to do my part to make Lafayette a better and more supportive place to live for all its residents was my motivation when I applied for the Lafayette Planning Commission in 1997 and then served for six years. It was my motivation when I first ran for the City Council in 2002 and served for ten years.  And it was my motivation when I returned to the Council in 2020. I seek your vote again because I want to continue to use my experience to help Lafayette meet the challenges we face, including:

• The increased risks of wildfire
• The need to implement our State-required Housing Element in a way that not only adds housing opportunities, but provides for downtown parks, makes Lafayette more pedestrian and bicycle friendly, expands retail and commercial business and keeps development away from our hillsides, ridges and open spaces
• The increased cost to the City to provide services our residents need and to maintain our  infrastructure

I want our City to meet those challenges in a manner that not only improves the lives of our residents, but makes us a model for others to emulate – a model of a safe, sustainable, inclusive, supportive community.
